The Raleigh Digital Connectors - program is a unique opportunity for you and your peers to serve your community through technology, community service and leadership. Digital Connectors is a nationally renowned program that provides technology training and mentoring for young people from diverse backgrounds and neighborhoods. The City of Raleigh provides the program through strategic partnerships and offers expanded levels of digital readiness and leadership training.
Many students from around the City of Raleigh will apply for the program, so make sure that your application stands out among the very best. Please answer all questions completely. NC State University, through the Department of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Science, is offering a FREE week-long summer day camp. Students will learn about various geoscience topics, careers, and participate in laboratory research activities.

Please note this is a day camp and overnight or campus housing will not be provided.
Students will be exposed to research in geology, marine science, and atmospheric science and will participate in research activities in each area. Faculty and counselors from the Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric sciences department at North Carolina State University will lead the presentations, activities, discussion, and lab tours. The camp will include several local field trips, including trips to William B. Umstead State Park, WRAL, and NCSU's own aquaculture (i.e., fish-farming) facility. UNC Young Innovators Program - Summer in Pharmaceutical Sciences & Pharmacy Practice
An opportunity for students interested in STEM and pharmacy careers to participate in a summer internship program at UNC Eshelman called the Young Innovators Program. YIP is a direct programmatic offering of the Eshelman Institute for Innovation for high school students interested in career paths in STEM and, specifically, the pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy practice.
As such, the purpose of YIP is to immerse top tier high school students in research laboratories (where they pursue real research projects), expose them to the clinical environments of pharmacy practice, and provide them intensive mentoring support aimed at enhancing their scientific knowledge, growing their interest in STEM, and challenging them to think creatively and critically as they solve real and urgent healthcare problems.

YOUNG SCHOLARS PROGRAM (ASSIST) in Nanosystems Engineering at NCSU
Program Description: The NSF Nanosystems Engineering Research Center (NERC) for Advanced Self-Powered Systems of Integrated Sensors and Technologies (ASSIST) at NC State University is soliciting applications from high school students with an interest in science, mathematics, engineering, or technology for the summer Young Scholars Program.
Up to four students will be selected to participate in research at the ASSIST Center. Participants will gain experience under the guidance of an established research group by investigating a topic from a broad spectrum of science and engineering disciplines. Students will learn about cutting-edge techniques and tools used in nanoscale science and engineering, conduct a research study, and participate in field trips and seminars. Join us for an interesting summer learning about advances in research, getting involved in your own study, and thinking about possible careers in science and engineering.
The mission of the ASSIST Center is to use nanotechnology to improve global health by enabling a correlation between personal health and personal environment and by empowering patients and doctors to manage wellness and improve quality of life.
Researchers at NC State University, Penn State University, University of Virginia, and Florida International University are working together to create wearable nanotechnologies that monitor individual health parameters and environmental exposures. Long-term sensing will enable patients, doctors, and scientists to make direct correlations between health and environmental toxins leading to chronic disease prediction, management and treatment. ASSIST advances will accelerate environmental health research and clinical trials as well as inform environmental policy.

The program lasts for 6 weeks (with the week of July 4th off), mid June – late July , with follow up during the academic year. Participants are required to attend all daily and weekly meetings, seminars, field trips and workshops.

The North Carolina Youth Conservation Corps (NCYCC) is a comprehensive youth development program that uses the natural world as a platform for teaching environmental stewardship, job and life skills, leadership, community service, and personal responsibility.
The NCYCC is a partnership between the Conservation Trust for North Carolina (CTNC) and the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC). NCYCC participants contribute hundreds of hours of hard work to improve and expand access to protected natural areas, so that more North Carolina families can connect with the outdoors. For many participants, this is a life-transforming experience.

The College of Textiles Summer Textile Exploration Program consists of four one-week sessions for rising high school seniors. Up to 30-35 students per week are chosen based on their academic success, interest in NC State College of Textiles, and extracurricular activities. Participants will live in one of NC State’s residence halls. This past year there were four different sessions with a total of 127 students in attendance.
